Marketing & Content Lead

Location: Remote (UTC+0 to UTC+8 working time zones)

About us

At Pupil Labs, we build eye tracking hardware and software used by researchers, developers, and industry professionals around the world. Our technology helps people understand human behavior and build new ways of interacting with the world, from neuroscience and healthcare to XR, robotics, sports, and beyond.

We're a team of engineers, designers, scientists, and other curious minds who care deeply about what we make and how it's used.

Who we're looking for

Let's get something out of the way: most of us block ads. We can smell marketing-speak from miles away, and we suspect our customers can too.

We don't want to contribute to the enshittification of the internet. We want to cut through the slop, not add to it.

We believe good marketing starts with genuinely understanding what you're talking about. We're not interested in aggressive selling, hollow claims, or generating content for the sake of content. We want to tell compelling stories, show what's possible with our technology, and help people discover tools that genuinely serve their needs.

We'd rather see our products used to do remarkable things than sitting on a shelf because we made a convincing sales pitch.

Until now, marketing at Pupil Labs has been a joint effort between our Product Specialist and Design teams. We're looking for someone to take this further, bring fresh ideas, and help us reach more people without losing what makes us who we are.

This isn't B2C marketing. It's not even your typical B2B marketing. Our audiences are researchers, engineers, developers, and domain experts who know their stuff and expect you to know yours.

You'll work closely with our Product Specialist and Design teams, reporting directly to the Head of Product Specialists and a company co-founder.

What you'll do

  • Find the stories worth telling. Talk to researchers, customers, and industry partners. Get your hands dirty with our technology. Discover interesting applications and opportunities that even we might have overlooked.

  • Create content with substance. Develop articles, guides, technical showcases, customer stories, and campaigns that people actually want to read, watch, and share. Show, don't just tell.

  • Write exceptionally well. Whether it's a technical article, a social post, an advertisement, or website copy, make every word count. Capture attention without resorting to clickbait that doesn't deliver.

  • Reach the right people. Build content strategies for specialized audiences across academia and industry. Understand SEO, discoverability, and distribution, but never at the expense of quality.

  • Build relationships. Engage with our community, collaborate with partners on joint publications and campaigns, and represent Pupil Labs at conferences and events around the world.

  • Make things happen. Work with our Product Specialists and Design team to turn ideas into compelling content. Take ownership, experiment, measure what works, and keep improving.

  • Embrace new tools. Yes, we're talking about AI. Use it intelligently to research, automate, and accelerate your work. Maybe you even have the chops to build an agent swarm to help you out. Just don't let it generate soulless garbage.

What we're looking for

  • You're an exceptional writer with a strong editorial instinct. You know the difference between something that sounds impressive and something that actually says something.

  • You're intellectually curious and willing to go deep. You don't need to know eye tracking today, but you should be excited to understand it well enough to hold your own in conversations with academics and industry experts.

  • You have experience creating and distributing content for technical, scientific, or other specialized audiences.

  • You understand digital marketing, SEO, and content performance, but don't mistake clicks and impressions for meaningful impact.

  • You're comfortable reaching out to people, asking questions, building trust, and collaborating across disciplines.

  • You're independent, proactive, and willing to challenge ideas, including ours.

  • You're comfortable working remotely and willing to travel internationally for conferences, events, and collaborations.

  • You care about aesthetics. We do too.

We don't particularly care whether your background is in marketing, journalism, science, or something else entirely. We care about what you can do, how you think, and whether you can make complicated things genuinely interesting.

Location & working arrangements

This is a remote position, with working hours based within UTC+0 to UTC+8 to ensure meaningful overlap with our teams across Europe and Asia. International travel for conferences and events is part of the role.

You'll have considerable ownership over your work and the opportunity to shape how Pupil Labs communicates with the world.

Show us what you've made. We'd much rather see a compelling article, campaign, video, or project you've worked on than read another cover letter full of marketing buzzwords.

Application Requirements

  1. CV & portfolio: Include links to work you've created or contributed to, such as articles, campaigns, videos, websites, or other relevant projects. Tell us what your role was in each. We care more about the quality of your work than the length of your CV.

  2. Cover letter: Tell us why you want to work at Pupil Labs, what interests you about this role, and what you'd bring to the team. Keep it personal and concise. We'd rather hear your own voice than the result of an LLM prompt.
