Product Specialist & Research Consultant

Location: Berlin

We at Pupil Labs are working hard to make eye tracking more robust, accessible, and user-friendly than ever before. We’ve already released three industry-disrupting eye tracking systems and are seen by many as the de facto standard, with an unmistakable cool edge. Our mantra: great technology gets out of your way.

We’re looking to grow our team of Product Specialists. Our mission is to democratise Pupil Labs technology, empowering users at an ever-accelerating rate. We're looking for someone who can think on their feet, with a solid scientific foundation. Someone who’s not afraid of taking risks, who knows the fundamentals and state of the art and can communicate it to diverse audiences.

If this excites you, and you want to help shape the future of real-world eye tracking, you’re in the right place!

What you'll do

  • Become an expert - We want you to become an expert in Pupil Labs eye tracking superpowers. This means gaining familiarity with our hardware and software. You’ll be the go-to for our users, and they’ll be looking to you for expertise

  • Translate knowledge to action - We work with a wide range of users, and you’ll be exposed to diverse research/use cases. We’ll need you to leverage your own experiences and knowledge to not only respond independently and collaboratively to research and industry-focused queries with up-to-date, on-point information, but also to craft bespoke consultancy packages. Our aim is to enable our customers’ world-leading research ambitions

  • Grow the community - Underpinning our whole business are meaningful relationships and feedback loops with our customers and partners. You’ll need to help maintain existing relationships, but also cultivate and grow new relationships. A big part of this will be delivering inspiring demonstrations, webinars, guest lectures/seminars, training sessions, and generally being proactive in the research/industry spaces

  • Be the compass - Without listening to our community, we’d be flying blind. You’ll be regularly engaging with our community, and so we want you to capture user knowledge and emerging trends, to inform product development, road maps, communication, and vision

  • Take an entrepreneurial role - You’ll be working with a lot of autonomy, with the support of our leads and founders. You’ll be generating ideas, tools, and research paradigms that empower our user base. Love to code? You’ll also have the opportunity to dive into custom code implementations and novel analysis pipelines with the support of our existing coding specialists

What we're looking for

  • Know your stuff - We want you to have a solid grounding in eye tracking/research methodology. To be someone who loves all things eye tracking, reads old and new pioneering research, and knows the seminal works

  • Hands-on experience - You’ll need to be experienced with eye tracking hardware, and hands-on use of Pupil Labs products is a bonus. Already an expert in our systems? You’re halfway there!

  • Clarity - Engaging communication and presentation to a range of audiences, with clear articulation of complex ideas, is vital. We want you to be in your element at academic conferences and love chatting with fellow researchers about the latest and greatest. Strong command of spoken and written English is therefore a must

  • Analytical - Great analytical and problem-solving skills and an ability to get to the bottom of a problem in a timely manner. There’s a lot of ambiguity in industry and research, and you’ll need to negotiate it efficiently to succeed in your role

  • Timezones - Seeking candidates located within UTC+0 to UTC+8 time zones (Remote OK!)

Perks

  • Onsite and remote work options: Like to be in an office – we have a beautiful office in Berlin, Germany. We are also remote-friendly with a sizable remote team and established culture around async + sync work styles

  • Continue learning and develop professionally: We will sponsor you to attend relevant scientific/developer conferences and training courses

  • You can publish scientific articles and be research-active

  • Flexible working hours, and we do mean flexible, with six weeks of holidays per year

  • Friday Forum: Spend the last Friday of every month upskilling however you see fit – read a book, learn a tool. Whatever you choose, make it count!
