OpenBCI and Pupil Labs Announce Launch of Wireless, All-in-One Brain, Body, and Eye Tracking Headset

Today, OpenBCI and Pupil Labs unveiled the result of a months-long collaboration: the first fully wireless, all-in-one brain, body, and eye tracking headset. By combining OpenBCI’s state-of-the-art Galea biosensing platform with Pupil Labs’ compact, modular Neon eye-tracking system, the companies have created a powerful new tool for real-time analysis of the human mind and body. Galea Neon opens new frontiers in understanding human cognition, emotion, learning, and behavior.
Originally launched to simplify multimodal data collection in VR and XR environments, Galea now gains the ability to capture that same rich variety of data in real-world contexts. With Pupil Labs Neon’s high-performance, mobile eye tracking, researchers retain full gaze monitoring capability outside of VR. Removing the VR headset lenses transforms Galea from an XR-integrated system into a fully self-contained mobile lab, allowing users to switch in seconds between VR, XR, 2D screen-based, and controlled real-world experiments without changing equipment.
Pairing Galea’s multimodal biosensing with Pupil Lab’s eye tracking ensures every signal—EEG, EOG, EMG, EDA, PPG, and eye tracking—is perfectly aligned and available in real time. This integration streamlines setup, eliminates the complexity of syncing multiple systems, and enables researchers to capture lab-grade measurements across modalities with minimal preparation time.
